Become a LARCH Ambassador

Are you passionate about social enterprise and live or work in Hartlepool or Redcar and Cleveland?

We’re looking for people to join us and act as ambassadors and advocates for LARCH.

You’ll be willing to engage and enthuse individuals and organisations to promote social enterprise and generate viable social enterprise ideas.

To be an ambassador you or your organisation will be:

  • based in Hartlepool or Redcar and Cleveland
  • demonstrate a commitment to LARCH
  • support the Partnership’s vision for social enterprise
  • have an appropriate skill and knowledge base.

Peter Gowland from Hartlepower is a LARCH ambassador and explains how he came on board:

"My involvement in LARCH started when Hartlepower was approached by VONNE in 2019 to discuss the notion of fostering social enterprise in our area. We subsequently undertook research involving around.30 Hartlepool VCS groups to determine their knowledge of and appetite for social investment. This research helped contribute to the submission of the eventually successful Access funding application by VONNE. We then began with other local agencies putting together a group of people from across the sectors to drive forward the initiative locally and we remain as members of the management board and the Hartlepool Area Based Panel."

A major part of being an ambassador is being a member of one of our two Area-Based Panels (ABPs) in Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland. You will act as ambassadors for LARCH and be responsible, along with other panel members, for the oversight of LARCH delivery in your area.

Tasks include:

  • Establish local Area Operational Plans in line with the LARCH Enterprise Development Plan.
  • Act as ambassadors and advocates for LARCH, engaging and enthusing individuals and organisations to promote social enterprise and generate viable social enterprise ideas.
  • Establish and join working sub-groups
  • Provide local intelligence, advice and representation to inform grant and social lending decisions.
  • Work in partnership across Redcar and Cleveland and Hartlepool to proactively promote LARCH, encourage the generation of Enterprise Development proposals and share ideas for improvement and development.
  • Actively support and liaise with the LARCH Project Co-Ordinator/Operational Officer.
  • Contribute to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning activities associated with LARCH, both locally and nationally.
  • Review the Enterprise Development Plan annually ensuring it remains innovative and responsive to the prevailing social enterprise environment and make recommendations to Management Board regarding any amendments considered appropriate.
